A 20-page saddle stitched, hard-cover book written and designed to introduce new possible solutions based on observations of the United States Interstate signage system.
The United States Interstate highway systems are often confusing and frustrating when traveling in new places and in complex intertwining of roadways. Part of this frustration forms within the lack of consistent visual indicators for drivers. Signs directing North and South or East and West are indistinguishable until reading at close distances. Similar to most city railways, an introduction of color and symbol into various categories of signage, such as North and South, forms a more recognizable indication at greater distances. Because of the amount of testing, study, and research necessary for such systems, this project does not propose a solution, but rather suggests some possibilities for improvement.
